HVAC Company valuation in Canada.
How hvac companies are valued — multiples, method, and value drivers — from senior M&A advisors who run these transactions.
Valuation method
How we value hvac companies.
For smaller hvac companies ($300K–$3M)
SDE method: normalize earnings (add back owner comp, perks, non-recurring expenses), then apply industry multiple of 2.5–4×. Adjust for inventory, real estate, and working capital.
Example: HVAC Company with $500K SDE × 3.3× = $1625K business value (plus inventory and real estate).
For larger hvac companies ($3M+)
EBITDA method: normalize EBITDA (add back non-recurring, owner perks, synergies), apply industry multiple of 5–8×. Adjust for working capital, cash, and debt.
Example: HVAC Company with $2M EBITDA × 6.5× = $13.0M enterprise value (cash-free, debt-free).
